Did not experience the great customer service I've been seeing in the other reviews. When I came in, no one acknowledged me. No one offered any assistance or showed me where the baskets were, even though I spent some time looking for them. They just observed me from the cash register. The reason why I point this out is because every other store I had gone to in this area, the staff were very, very warm. So this coldness was very unexpected. I noticed a worker having a hearty conversation with a patron, to the point that they would not move out of the way for me to see what was on the shelves they were blocking. I did get some Arches paper, some Michael Harding oil paints, and some inks. But the attitude of the staff just made me want to leave. When I came up to the register, the staff member said nothing to me, but it turned out another patron had left her mid-cashing to get something. The patron apologised, but the cashier remained silent. I got really irritated by the whole thing and didn't reply to the cashier's "greeting" until she asked me if it was cash or card. I returned their coldness with my own coldness. They had a lot of shop lifter warning signs, and I wonder if they thought I looked like one, thus the treatment. With regard to stock, it's a small store, but they certainly have professional paints, and brushes, and student brands as well, so a good selection. Good paper in various sizes. Stock was a little pricey.

Very knowledgeable staff make this place a must visit for anyone looking to get into a new medium, try some new supplies, or just explore. Lots to choose from, and while the layout can seem a bit chaotic, the friendly staff will point you in the right direction. Prices here are sometimes also lower than the other art supply shops in Melbourne CBD, especially when they have one of their sales.

Located on the very popular Degraves st in the city, this is my favorite art supplies store. It has the best selection of paints, pastels, and brushes. They stock brands like Winsor and Newton, Old Holland, Daniel Smith, Michael Harding and Art Spectrum. The employees are always very friendly and give great advice about how to use the materials. I managed to complete some of my best paintings with supplies mostly from this store.

As someone from Tasmania, I was ignorant to the fact that this is not a single store; there are several. I found a discount online, not realising it was for a different store of the same name. The girls working there today were very kind and honoured the discount even though they didn’t have to. Will absolutely be returning the next time I’m in Melbourne.
